This past Friday, Rowland Mountain and Associates got the opportunity to attend the Chic-fil-a Leadercast leadership event consisting of 9 phenomenal speakers all centered around the theme, “Simply Lead.” The all-day event forced us to take a deeper look into our persons, our leadership style, and how to lead when you take out all complications and think simplistically. The speakers were Andy Stanley, John C. Maxwell, Sanya Richards-Ross, Dr. Henry Cloud, David Allen, Mike Krzyzewski, Condoleeza Rice, Jack Welch, and LCDT Rorke Denver.  Each one of our team members took away something special and important; some examples are…

• Don’t be afraid to be the dumbest person in the room
• If something is on your mind, get it out.  Write is down then focus on one task at a time.
• Multi-tasking is impossible- Nature gets a lot done, but it is all done slowly
• Be optimistic
• Trying to make EVERYONE happy doesn’t work- “I’m a leader, not a clown”- Dr. Henry Cloud

and most importantly
Leadership is simple! What we need to know is

• What are we doing?
• Why are we doing it?
• Where do I fit in to that picture?
